Potential CUPE Local 500 Strike

NOTICE TO ATU LOCAL 1505 MEMBERS

The Canadian Union of Public Employee’s (CUPE) Local 500 could potentially take strike action on Wednesday, October 12th, 2022, at 12:00 am.

In such an eventuality, ATU Local 1505 will be honouring CUPE Local 500’s picketing lines and will not cross them until CUPE 500 allows us to do so.  Due to this, we anticipate delays around the garages and major transit service disruptions.  Please ensure to govern yourself accordingly and adjust your commute time as needed.

Additionally, in respect of the members of CUPE Local 500, ATU Local 1505 is giving notice to the City of Winnipeg that ATU Local 1505 members will not be performing any tasks that are designated to CUPE Local 500 positions.

Furthermore, ATU Local 1505 members in accommodated positions under The Winnipeg Civic Employees’ Benefits Program (WCEBP) will not be required to perform tasks under the CUPE Local 500 positions and shall be reinstated to wage loss benefits under the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program.
