Mandatory Vaccines for Front-Line Workers

The City of Winnipeg has made vaccines mandatory for front-line employees, including transit operators. 

 

Human resources will soon contact you with information on how to fulfil the vaccine requirements, how you can submit your proof of vaccine, and information for those with religious or medical exemptions. 

 

If you have concerns about how this new mandate may impact you, please call the union. If you are opposed to getting the vaccine for medical or religious reasons, we can begin a grievance for you. This will be done on a case by case process, exemptions are not available to everyone. 

 

We are waiting to hear from a lawyer to learn more about what protections or options members who do not want the vaccine are entitled to. We are looking into on-site testing and screening as well as redeployment to protect everyone’s right to work and their freedom of choice.
