Dear Sisters, Brothers and Friends, Please join the labour movement in this year’s online celebration of International Women’s Day by using our special hashtag #Labour4IWD2021 to recognize outstanding women in our unions and our communities. In place of an in-person celebration this year, the Canadian Labour Congress, the Manitoba Federation of Labour and the Winnipeg and Brandon Labour Councils are sponsoring a joint social media effort to pay tribute to extraordinary women in honour of International Women’s Day. Starting today and continuing through until International Women’s Day on March 8, we encourage you to recognize and celebrate outstanding women by using the hashtag #Labour4IWD2021 on your preferred social media accounts. Create your own post, or use some of the ideas below to get started: In recognition of International Women’s Day 2021, I want to honour … She inspires me by … She empowers others by … She’s serves an ally by … She makes a real difference by … She makes our union stronger by … #Labour4IWD2021 You can also download the #Labour4IWD2021 image to add to your posts. While the COVID-19 pandemic means we can’t get together in-person this year, we can still celebrate International Women’s Day and mark the important contributions and accomplishments of women in the labour movement, in our communities and in our society.
